Four‐dimensional elastically deformed simplex space‐time meshes for domains with time‐variant topology

Considering the flow through biological or engineered valves as an example, there is a variety of applications in which topology fluid domain changes over time. This change characteristic for physical behavior, but poses particular challenge computer simulations. A way to overcome this consider application-specific space-time geometry contiguous computational domain. In work, we obtain boundary-conforming discretization with four-dimensional simplex elements (pentatopes). To facilitate construction pentatope meshes complex geometries, widely used elastic mesh update method extended meshes. resulting workflow, elegantly included and does not require any additional treatment during simulation. The potential domains time-variant demonstrated valve simulation, simulation inspired by clamped artery.
